The Wickaninnish Restaurant is located on the west coast of Vancouver Island in the heart of Pacific Rim National Park.
From Victoria and Nanaimo to the west coast
- Travel on Highway 19 north for about 45 km (about 25 miles) past Nanaimo
- Take exit 60 onto Highway 4 west and continue straight on to the beautiful west coast (between two and three hours)
- When you reach the Tofino/Ucluelet junction, turn right and continue on into Pacific Rim National Park
From Ucluelet or Tofino
Follow Highway 4 into Pacific Rim National Park and turn off at the sign for the Wickaninnish Interpretive Centre (Wick Road).
Continue along Wick Road to the restaurant — you’re here!

Along the way
Your trip to the Wickaninnish Restaurant and the Pacific Rim will take you through some of British Columbia’s most spectacular scenery. Soaring mountains, lush rainforests, sparkling lakes and crashing surf reveal themselves as you go between Vancouver Island’s coasts.
Just before you enter Port Alberni, stop and take in the incredible majesty of Cathedral Grove, home to some of the oldest Douglas Firs on Vancouver Island.
As you wind through mountain passes into the west coast, keep your camera ready. Kennedy Lake is one of the largest fresh water lakes on the island and sparkles sapphire-blue in the sunlight.
During the final stretch of your trip into the park, watch westward for your first glimpses of the relentless surf of the Pacific Ocean. It won’t be hard to see, just follow the surfers carrying surf boards on their bicycles!
